Benefits of Volunteering

The Romero Centre recognises that volunteering provides multiple benefits to the community, the individual and the service. The Centre encourages members of the community to participate in its work, in order to:

  • Enable people to contribute to their community
  • Provide people with the opportunity for meaningful work experience and the development of new skills & pathways
  • Enhance the range of services available within the organisation
  • Work towards an ever broader scope of community participation within the organisation

What kind of activities can volunteers get involved with at the Romero Centre?

The short answer - just about anything! People who work at the Romero Centre do all kinds of tasks to help the Centre achieve its goals. We will do our best to match your abilities, skills & qualifications, and areas within which you may like to gain some experience, with the tasks you do. Some examples volunteer roles are: casework support, accommodation support, project work, newsletter production, childminding, administration, and tutoring.

All volunteers who work onsite are asked to also get involved with the more basic tasks that keep the Centre running on a day to day basis.
